MiraCosta College Board of Trustees Swearing-in Ceremony
Simon & McNeil retain seats; Page takes over for Carranza
The December 11 Board of Trustees meeting marked the swearing-in of three trustees. Returning trustees Jacqueline Simon and George McNeil, and newly elected Leon Page took the oath of office in front of a packed crowd. Both McNeil and Page ran unopposed; Simon won election over contender Frank Merchat.

: George McNeil joined the Board of Trustees in December 2008, and represents Area 5, southern Oceanside. Jacqueline Simon was elected to the Board of Trustees in November 2004, and represents Area 3, which includes Carlsbad and Encinitas. Local attorney Leon Page will represent Area 4, Carlsbad.
Administering the oath was the board secretary, MiraCosta College Superintendent/President Francisco Rodriguez. Newly elected State Assemblyman Rocky Chavez spoke at the ceremony (far right in photo).
The ceremony also included appointing David Broad as board president, Jacqueline Simon as vice president, and the reappointing of MiraCosta College Superintendent/President Dr. Francisco Rodriguez as board secretary.
