I am Gail Meinhold, a professor in the Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition Department and the lead Nutrition and Health Instructor at MiraCosta College. I have spent much of my life promoting and teaching health and nutrition and have been teaching nutrition for more than a decade.

Prior to teaching, I worked as a Clinical Dietitian in a Hospital and Health & Wellness Center, worked as a Nutrition Consultant with professional athletes, and spent fourteen years in Pharmaceutical and Nutritional Sales.

I hold a master’s degree in Food Science and Nutrition from Chapman University and a bachelor’s degree in Dietetics and Food Administration from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo. The Medical College of Virginia is where I completed my Dietetic Internship. I am a Registered Dietitian and an active member of the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics and the Sports, Cardiovascular, and Wellness Nutrition (SCAN) dietetic practice group. My outside interests include running, traveling, surfing and cheering on my two college-aged sons with their NCAA sports.

I am proud of the diverse and comprehensive Kinesiology, Health and Nutrition program at MiraCosta College.  Courses in our program provide both the theoretical background and hands-on practical experience necessary for transfer or to gain employment in related fields. I am committed to the success of our students and make myself available to speak with them during office hours or by appointment.

Nutrition Courses Available at MiraCosta College:

NUTR100: Nutrition Today

NUTR105: Human Performance and Sports Nutrition
NUTR108: Cultural Aspects of Food and Nutrition
NUTR292: Internship Studies
