Employee Wellness Program

What is the wellness program about?

The MiraCosta Wellness Program is designed to educate and engage employees to make healthier lifestyle choices; to encourage employees to take a proactive approach to their health and to increase health awareness.

The College is working with the Healthy Adventures Foundation, a nonprofit organization specializing in workforce well-being programs. Healthy Adventures Foundation has been contracted to administer the MCC Wellness Program, facilitate wellness workshops, provide personalized health coaching and electronic communications to promote health and fitness resources and events.

The Healthy Adventures Foundation seeks to improve quality of life, while seeking balance in healthy behaviors. They take a holistic approach to wellness programming surrounding education and activities that primarily target nutrition, physical activity, healthy lifestyle, learned responses to exercise, behavior modification, health awareness, stress management, positive body image, and promoting self-esteem.

The Wellness program is funded by JPA surplus equity funds (surplus equity funds are used for employee health improvement programs, emergency preparedness programs and ergonomic accommodations).
