Overview

The best in North County! To get your California driver’s license, there are two requirements if you are under 18 years of age:

  • Classroom Driver Education and
  • Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training

MiraCosta College offers both! Students must be 15 years old to enroll in both programs and 15 1/2 to participate in the Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training.

Classroom Driver Education

Certificated instructors interact with students, using guest speakers and contemporary audio/visual aids. Our program uses the brand new version of "License to Drive," including the text and videotapes.

We truly believe that classroom driver education is the most important class your child will ever take. Together we can make a difference in what they learn and how well they learn it. The experts will tell you that the biggest advantage of classroom driver education is that students interact with other students and learn from a qualified professional and not a computer screen. It will also help when they take get their learners permit and take driver training.

Sign up for both programs at the same time and pay $353. (La Costa Canyon location is $363)This is a $28 savings!  Individually, Classroom Driver Education is $88 and Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training is $293.

  • Convenient after school, evening, and weekend times available.
  • Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training sessions meet at Carlsbad High School, El Camino High School, Rancho Buena Vista High School, La Costa Canyon High School, MiraCosta College Oceanside Campus, and MiraCosta College San Elijo Campus.
  • Students receive six hours of one-on-one Behind-the-Wheel Driver Training instruction.
  • Licensed professional and reliable instructors.
  • Satisfies all DMV and Department of Education license requirements.

Online Driver Education
