Elementary Algebra

Designed to prepare students for Intermediate Algebra, this course teaches simplifying algebraic expressions involving polynomials and rational terms; factoring; solving linear equations; solving quadratic equations using factoring; analyzing graphs of linear equations; and solving applied problems. (Formerly MATH 830.)

Instructor notes: Students enrolled in this hybrid class are required to take proctored (paper-and-pencil) tests and the Final Exam at the Oceanside MiraCosta campus during the class time, or at the Academic Proctoring Center. Students enrolled in this hybrid class are also required to attend the lectures twice a week. Before enrolling, please read the syllabus posted at http://www.miracosta.edu/home/lnakamura. After enrolling, log onto Blackboard (http://blackboard.miracosta.edu) using your SURF ID and password, go to the homepage for this course and follow the information given there to purchase an access code and log onto MyMathLab, the required course software. All assignments (except for exams) must be done online using the MyMathLab software. By the close of the first day of class, you must log onto MyMathLab AND complete the required orientation and begin submitting assignments by the first day of class or you will be dropped from the class and your place given to another student.
