New Gerontology Course at MiraCosta College

A recently overhauled Gerontology Studies Program at MiraCosta College will continue to expand in the fall with the addition of a 3-unit class, Intergenerational Issues (GERO 250). The course begins August 18 and is taught online with two proctored exams on campus.

This course examines interpersonal relations between older adults and other age groups in the United States, and explores policies and related programs that impact intergenerational relationships and caregiving interactions. The course also highlights societal and cultural perspectives and issues, and real-world outcomes. The course also addresses the challenges and benefits of having Boomers, Gen Xers and Gen Yers together in the workplace.

GERO 250 is CSU and UC transferrable, and fulfills several criteria for GE, transfer and associate degrees.
