Meet our Students
Brian HanBrian Han graduated from Upland High School in San Bernardino County and is now a nursing major at MiraCosta College. He volunteers in the emergency room at Tri-City Medical Center, doing everything from sterilizing beds after a patient is discharged to keeping lonely patients company. Brian and his brother are the first in their family to attend college. “I believe that everyone should obtain a college education, because not only does it teach the skills necessary for your job, but it also teaches you to be a thinker,” Brian says. “Some stuff you learn in college may or may not be practical in everyday life, but it allows you to view the world in a different perspective.” Brian serves as a MiraCosta College student ambassador and has met with many high school students, encouraging them to begin their higher education at MiraCosta College. “MiraCosta College prepares you for the rigorous academic workload of a university. You need a solid foundation in order to succeed and compete against other highly motivated students,” Brian tells students. “Some people look down on community colleges but the fact is, many students successfully transfer to a university and perform much better than traditional university students. In the end they both get the same degree from the same school, but the student from the community college saves money and probably ends up with a higher G.P.A.” Brian is on the MiraCosta College President’s List with a 4.0 G.P.A. and received a MiraCosta College Foundation scholarship. |
