MiraCosta College will be presenting TECH Talk, an industry networking mixer, on Wednesday, March 14. Hosted by the MiraCosta Computer Studies and Information Technology (CSIT) Department in partnership with the Doing What Matters Information and Communications Technologies & Digital Media Deputy Sector Navigation Team, the event will inform attendees about MiraCosta’s new IT degrees and certificates (including the new Cyber Security program) and how these provide transfer opportunities towards achieving high demand high wage careers.
A wide panel of representatives from the IT industry including Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA), Robert Half Technology, Sentek Global, Webroot, and FSB Associates will be speaking about IT recruiting, cyber security, test and evaluation, online publicity, social media and website development and will answer attendee’s questions. Along with the opportunity to mix and mingle with industry and governmental representatives, there will be corporate recruiters present representing MIS cyber security, programming and digital media. Additionally, Raspberry Pis will be available for hands on exploration.
Due to the vast interest in computer studies and demand from the industry, the MiraCosta CSIT Department will share new degree and certificate programs expected to launch in the fall 2018 semester. Students will be exposed to a range of cutting edge topics and skills that are currently being developed in partnership with industry experts.
Attendees will be entered to win a Raspberry Pi, two mini drones, gift cards and more. Pizza, brownies, and beverages will be provided.
RSVPs are requested, but walk-ins are welcomed. The event will be happening from 5–7 p.m. on March 14 at the Oceanside Campus, located at 1 Barnard Drive, in the Administration Building (OC1000), Room 1068.
