The Community Learning Center of the MiraCosta Community College District (MCCCD) is about to get a new look. Design work has started for a new Student Services Building which will include Admissions & Records, Counseling, Testing, Student Gathering Space, and Career Services. Funding for the project is provided by Measure MM, the $455 million bond measure approved by district voters in November 2016.
"We are looking to create a cohesive campus environment that feels like a MiraCosta campus,” said Tom Macias, Facilities Director. “This new building will provide an anchor for the new campus quad that provides the physical elements that comprise a college campus."
In addition to the new quad that will encourage students to stay on campus for longer periods of time for study and socialization, the new Student Services Building will provide a single, dynamic environment to improve the entire student experience on campus. It will provide the space to address deficiencies in current office, library and instructional media areas.
Construction of the new Student Services Building is anticipated to start in August 2019 and be completed by August 2020.
Measure MM is a $455 million general obligation (GO) bond approved by voters in 2016 to modernize aging facilities and upgrade instructional technology. Learn more at miracosta.edu/MeasureMM
