Design Starts for Major Renovation of Administration Building at MCCD's Oceanside Campus

With funds provided by Measure MM, architects have started to design a major renovation of Building 1000, also known as the Administration Building, at the MiraCosta Community College District's Oceanside Campus. The task is to repurpose the existing building for new functions, including improving space efficiency and accessibility. The B1000 project is budgeted at $11 million for design and construction.

Measure MM is the $455 million general obligation bond to modernize MCCD's aging facilities and upgrade industrial technology. The bond measure was approved by district voters in November, 2016.
The renovation of B1000 will require construction of a temporary space for Administration. That construction is scheduled to begin in August 2019 and be complete in April 2020. Upon completion of the temporary space, construction will begin on B1000. The newly renovated building will be reopen in June 2021.

The design work was awarded through a bid process to Little Diversified Architectural. According to Kitchell, the Measure MM Program and Construction Manager, the construction portion of the project will be put out to bid upon completion of the design phase.
