President's Update

10/8/2018
Dear MiraCostans:

Given the recent national events that involved allegations of sexual assault, I want to acknowledge the impact the topic of sexual assault has on members of our campus community. Some within our community have been victims and many of us know someone who is a victim. The national events have not changed the serious nature of this topic and our commitment to address it proactively, effectively, and respectfully within our community.

MiraCosta College is committed to providing support systems to address sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment and sexual violence, dating violence, domestic violence, and stalking.

If you have experienced or know someone who has experienced these forms of violence, we want you to know about the resources that are available to our campus community. For additional information, or to file a report of sexual misconduct, please contact the district’s Title IX Coordinator, Hayley Schwartzkopf.

MiraCosta College has taken steps to prevent sexual violence and sexual harassment and to effectively respond when such incidents occur. Through prevention education, increased resources, and a confidential response team, MiraCosta College is dedicated to fostering a culture of safety and security.

The safety and well-being of our students, faculty, and staff are of utmost importance. We want to ensure that you are aware of the resources available should you, or someone you know, need this support.

Sincerely,

Sunita V. Cooke Ph.D.
Superintendent/President
