MiraCosta College Board of Trustees Election Outcomes


Congratulations to all who worked hard for these outcomes in Election 2018. A democracy does not flourish without the engagement of all.

Trustee Area 1

Anna Pedroza will represent Area 1, having run unopposed in the final election. A longtime resident of Del Mar, Anna represents the southernmost area of the North County, which also includes Carmel Valley.

Trustee Area 2

Rick Cassar, a college professor and vice president of the board at MiraCosta, wins with a 75 percent victory and was first elected to the Board in November 2014. He resides in Cardiff-by-the-Sea, representing Area 2. Rick and his wife, Kristine, are the proud parents of three children, two of whom attended California community colleges

Trustee Area 6

David Broad won another term on the board, having run unopposed. He became a trustee for Area 6, northwest Oceanside, in December 2010. David has been involved with MiraCosta since 2001. After his retirement, David became the MiraCosta College Foundation board president and has been active in raising money to help students meet their educational goals.

Trustee Area 7

William Fischer, a district Area 7 trustee since his appointment in April 2009, has been elected to another four-year term. Bill dedicated his professional career to education; teaching English for 33 years before retiring as a professor emeritus in 2000. Following his retirement, he moved to Oceanside, where he has been involved with the SD County Registrar of Voters and has served on an Oceanside traffic committee.
