Multimedia Exhibit “Ug6” Comes to MiraCosta College’s Art Gallery

ug6 Art Show

ug6, u6 [IGI.É]: n., amazement; gaze, glance (['EYE' + 'HOUSE']). v., to look at; to stare at, gaze; to be impressed. adj., astonishing.(Sumerian)

This collection of collages and assemblages by artist Jason Sherry seeks to occupy an intangible dimension determined by pattern and repetition. He plots out photographic fragments in an absurd cartography of symbolic and personal meaning. The accumulation of objects and images repeat exponentially as if they are imploding into a humorous singularity.

The exhibit runs October 8 –31 in MiraCosta College’s Kruglak Art Gallery in the Oceanside Campus Student Center, Bldg. 3400, located at 1 Barnard Drive. Admission is free.

San Diego artist Jason Sherry received his BFA at San Diego State University and has exhibited extensively throughout Southern California.

“I am concerned with presenting the absurdity of human history and culture by assembling disparate objects and images in new objects of great humor and meaning,” said Sherry.

A free reception will be held Thursday, October 10, 6-8 p.m., and a presentation by the artist will be held the same day at 2:30 p.m.

The Kruglak Gallery hours are Mondays/Tuesdays 2:30–7:30 p.m.; and Wednesdays/Thursdays, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. Admission is free. Obtain a free parking permit from Campus Police, Bldg. 1100 in lot 1A.
