MiraCosta College Expands Course Availability for Spring 2014 Semester

When MiraCosta College’s spring semester begins on January 13, students will find it a lot easier to get the classes they need—at a time, location and in a format that works best for them.

In addition to its more than 1,300 sections of traditional on-campus classes and its more than 300 sections of online courses to be offered this spring, MiraCosta College has expanded its offerings on Fridays and Saturdays. These extra sections of core classes have proven to be a welcome relief for students previously squeezed out of enrolling because of high demand or work schedules. Until this year, the San Elijo Campus had only offered a few Friday classes and the Oceanside Campus had only offered a handful on Fridays and Saturdays. That has changed with the addition of more than 80 classes split between the campuses.

Also new this spring, MiraCosta College has teamed with Carlsbad Unified School District to offer college core classes at Carlsbad’s newest high school, Sage Creek. Courses available include Communication 101, Oral Communication; English 100, Composition & Reading; Film 101, Intro to Film; Geology 101, Physical Geology; Math 64, Intermediate Algebra; Music 114, History of Rock & Roll and Spanish 101, Elementary Spanish (First Semester). These courses are open to all MiraCosta College students as well as concurrently enrolled high school students from any district. And the enrollment fee has been waived for high school students taking any of MiraCosta College’s classes.

At MiraCosta College, students get smaller class sizes, more personalized instruction and the same general education courses as a four-year university—at a fraction of the price. Students also get the job skills and education they need to start or advance in a career. MiraCosta College offers scholarships, financial aid, enrollment fee waivers, grants and loans.

Apply now! Spring enrollment began November 12. Enrollment fee is still just $46 per unit for California residents. To apply and enroll, visit or call 760.795.6620.
