Pop-up Blocker settings for Internet Explorer (Windows users)

  1. Launch Internet Explorer.
  2. On the upper right corner, click on the Gear Settings icon IE Gear Settings Icon
  3. Select Internet options > Privacy tab > and the Settings button.
    1. Alternative: In the Menu Bar, select Tools. Select Pop-up Blocker, click Pop-up Blocker Settings.
  4. To allow pop-up windows for a specific website, type the web address (URL) ex. surf.miracosta.edu in the Address of website to allow: box.
  5. Click Add.
  6. To block ALL pop-ups from any website, change the Blocking level to High located near the bottom of the dialog box. Otherwise, leave the default setting to Medium level.
  7. Click the Close and the OK buttons to exit
  8. Finally, close the browser and reopen it or refresh it.

TIP: To temporarily allow a site to display pop-ups, click the Information Bar when notified that a pop-up has been blocked, select Temporarily Allow Pop-ups.

Pop-up Blocker settings for Safari (Apple users)

  1. Launch Safari.
  2. On the upper left corner, click on the Safari menu.
  3. Select Preferences... and click the Security (lock) icon
  4. Ensure that there is no check-mark on the Block pop-up windows Web content: section.
    1. Alternative Short-Cut Keys: Press the Shift+Command (⌘)+K keys to disable or enable the Pop-Up Windows.
  5. Finally, close the browser and reopen it or refresh it.

Pop-up Blocker settings for Google Chrome (Windows & Apple users)

  1. Launch Google Chrome.
  2. On the upper right corner, click on the Settings icon Google Chrome Settings Icon
  3. Select Settings
  4. In the Settings tab near the bottom, click Show advanced settings...
  5. Click on the Content settings... button.
  6. In the Content settings window, scroll down until you see the Pop-ups section.
  7. Select Do not allow any site to show pop-ups (recommended)
  8. To allow pop-up windows for a specific website, click the Manage exceptions... button.
  9. Example: In the Hostname pattern box type "surf.miracosta.edu", and the Behavior setting should be selected to "Allow"
  10. Click the Done buttons to exit
  11. Finally, close the browser and reopen it or refresh it.

Pop-up Blocker settings for Mozilla FireFox (Windows & Apple users)

  1. Launch FireFox.
  2. On the upper right corner, click on the Settings icon Google Chrome Settings Icon
    1. Alternative: In the Menu Bar, click Tools then select Options, (Apple users click the Firefox menu located on the upper left hand corner and select Preferences). Go to step 4
  3. Select Options, (Apple users select Preferences).
  4. Click on the Content tab.
  5. Ensure the Block pop-up windows box is checked.
  6. To allow pop-up windows for a specific website, click the Exceptions... button.
  7. Example: In the Address of website box type "surf.miracosta.edu", and click the Allow button.
  8. Click the Close and the OK buttons (Apple users close both windows) to exit
  9. Finally, close the browser and reopen it or refresh it.
