2012-2013 Student Ambassador Team

Maria Aguilar

Maria

My name is Maria Aguilar. My major is Human Biology and I hope to attend UCSD to pave the path towards becoming a doctor. I moved from Arizona a year ago and have found California the place to be to achieve your dreams. Never in my life would I have imagined going to college here and never would I have thought that attending MiraCosta would be one of the best decisions in my life. Being fresh out of high school, I was very timid to start my college experience. However, as soon as I took my assessments and got fully matriculated I found that the faculty and students at MiraCosta are nonetheless very supportive. I’m very excited to take on a title as a Student Ambassador and work with a fantastic team to represent MiraCosta in the best way possible.

Sasha Tangherian

Sasha

My name is Sasha Tangherian, I am 24 and this is my 4th year at MiraCosta College. Since I was a child, I
have had a strong passion to contribute to our world, and make a difference. Now that I am older I have the
ability to fulfill this passion at MCC. I understand that life is not just a walk in the park, and it takes more then just good grades and a strong mind to achieve your goals. Unfortunately, I had to learn this the hard way. When I was 14, I moved to L.A from London, England, and I was eager to explore this new culture; however, in my later teen years I was too excited and forgot about my future goals, resulting in me dropping out of high school. After many years of struggling, I finally found my niche at MiraCosta College. I now work as a Student Ambassador, helping high school students take those first steps into college, peer-advising them about higher education and its benefits. Thanks to MCC, my life has done a complete 360 degree turn; I am a 4.0 student and clearly see the path I am going to take in my life in order to achieve my goals. Currently, I am majoring in Bio and hope to enjoy a career in the medical field in the future.

Connor Zablow

Connor

Hey there everyone! My name is Connor Zablow and I'm 20 years of age.  I have attended MiraCosta College for the last two years and project to complete my remaining transfer requirements prior to fall of 2013. I intend to further my education at San Diego State University and be part of their fantastic Computer Engineering program. My experience at MiraCosta College has provided with me the tools, knowledge and opportunity to excel, becoming a more prosperous student. The faculty and staff have not only taught me how I can be the best that I can be, but also how to think critically and be an open minded person.  I hope to better the community as well as neighboring schools by informing students that college is not as difficult as some perceive it and that, most importantly, if I successfully pushed through, so can anyone else.
