Volunteers are matched with a Little Brother or Little Sister to meet for one hour, one day a week at the child's school site on Camp Pendleton. During that hour the Big & Little activities such as play board games, do arts and crafts or just run around outside playing sports, etc. Volunteers must be 18 years old, able to commit to one year, complete background check, including DMV, criminal history, sex offender, etc. A $20 application fee is required to complete the background check, fee will be collected at interview. Hours are Monday (2:30-4:00), Tuesday (3:30-4:45), and Wednesday (1:00-2:30). |

This organization provides services to the special needs and able-bodied community. Help is needed with children's activities including: games, songs, arts and crafts, stories and snack. Volunteers are also needed to help with the equestrian program: work directly with riding instructor and special needs rider, help with grooming and turn-outs of horses, maintain stables and tack. All students working in the children's program must obtain TB test clearance within the last year. Minimum time commitment is 10 hours. Volunteer Needs: North County Community Services operates North County’s Food Bank, seven preschools for income qualified families, and a garden program to grow food for our preschools. We have volunteer opportunities in all of these programs and the administrative office. Preschool volunteers may assist in our kitchens preparing meals, in the classroom attending children, or maintaining preschool gardens. Office volunteers may assist with copying, filing, data entry, and other office tasks. Garden volunteers help planting, harvesting, weeding, and watering. Preschool volunteers must have a current TB test and be able to pass a background check.
