TLC tutors assist students one-on-one and in small group settings with related course content. Tutors encourage students to develop effective study skills and may be assigned to work in the centers or inside classrooms. They are chosen through a selective process based on staffing needs, faculty recommendations, interpersonal skills, experience and an interview with TLC staff. Tutors must have received a grade of B or better in the course(s) (or higher sequenced course) that they would like to tutor and attend training if selected for hire.
- science-focused tutors assist with courses in STEM subjects (biology, biotechnology, chemistry, computer science, physics, and physical sciences, as well as astronomy, horticulture, geology, earth science, and oceanography)
- math-focused tutors assist with all math courses (we typically look for students who are able to tutor at the Pre-Calculus level or above), statistics courses (we look for students who are able to tutor BTEC 180, BUS 204, MATH 103, PYSC 104, &/or SOC 125), and Philosophy 110 (logic).
