Puente Project Annual Events
Puente Bienvenida
The Puente Bienvenida is the kickoff event of the year, welcoming all new first-year Puentistas. Students have the opportunity to network with peers, enjoy lunch, learn about MiraCosta's resources and services, take a guided campus tour, and hear about upcoming events planned for the year.
Noche de Familia
Puente’s Noche de Familia is an annual back-to-school event where students bring their families, friends, and supporters to campus. The evening includes a student project showcase, introductions to faculty and staff, and a keynote from one of the authors featured in the course curriculum. It's a time to build community and share the college experience with loved ones.
Mentor Networking Mixers
Held throughout the year, the Mentor Networking Mixers allow students to connect with their mentors both on and off campus and engage in conversation over lunch, or dinner. Students and their Mentors engage in conversation to receive guidance on academic and career goals, explore growth opportunities, and be inspired by mentors who demonstrate that success is possible while honoring cultural identity.
Puente Transfer Motivational Conference
A one-day student conference which brings together all first-semester Puentistas throughout Southern California for a day of community building, workshops, and campus tours, with a goal of motivating academic success and university transfer. The conference is hosted by the Puente Project state office and takes place at a different university each year.
University Excursions
Puentistas and their Puente Coordinators visit universities throughout the year to learn about tranfer opportunities, services and resources aviabale, campus life, and learn about the local community surrounding the university.
Puente End of Year Celebration
The End of Year Celebration honors the accomplishments of Puentistas. Where students bring their families, friends and supporters to celebrate with the campus community and mark the end of a successful academic year, and cheers on graduating and transferring students.
