Finding Your Home Away from Home!
We understand that finding the right place to live is key to your happiness and comfort while studying in the United States! While MiraCosta College does not provide dormitories or college-approved housing, we’re here to guide you with helpful tools and suggestions so you can make safe and informed choices.
Please note: MiraCosta College assumes no responsibility and has no knowledge of the condition of housing advertised or the character or reputation of housing providers. The information provided is for your convenience only and is compiled from publicly available sources.
A Few Important Tips to Keep You Safe:
- Be cautious. Housing fraud is common, so it’s essential to be vigilant before making any commitments.
- See before you pay. Do not send money for private housing until you’ve arrived, toured the home, and met everyone living there.
- Understand the commitment. Make sure you know all terms and conditions before making a decision.

There are many online services and resources available to help you find a room or apartment. For example, California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) provides a housing platform that might be helpful: CSUSM Housing.
Tips for Finding Rooms for Rent:
- Websites: Many online platforms specialize in connecting renters and roommates (see examples below).
- Word of Mouth: Talk to other students, friends, outreach team members, or staff in the International Office. They may know of housing opportunities or have advice on where to look.
- Post an Ad: Create a poster about what you’re looking for and post it on college notice boards.
