Hello, I am Yu. I was born in China, but my family moved to Japan when I was 6 years
old. I was an easygoing student who did not care to study hard. But I have changed
since I come to study at MiraCosta. I like my studies and have become my responsible
for myself. I study business and will major in international economics at a 4-year
university.
Suzanne from Brazil
I am Suzanne from Brazil in my second semester studying Horticulture. To learn about
sustainable agriculture opens my mind a lot. Before coming to the United States I
worked in business with 10-years experience in various types of markets (beverages,
banking, but mostly cosmetics) but I had a dream to head my career towards sustainability.
Here I am! I would love to share with you some tips from this journey as a student
and student worker that might encourage you to say YES to study abroad.

Hello everyone! My name is Matias but everyone calls me Mati. I am 20 years old and
lived a majority of my life in Switzerland, and now I live in sunny Calfornia. Looking
back, moving her is definitely one of the best decisions I have made in my life. I
study Business Administration and my goal is to transfer to California State University
San Marcos. Learning at MiraCosta will help me evolve after my studies as an entrepreneur
which is exciting to me. I love spending time outdoors. My favorite activities is
skateboarding, soccer as well as fashion and design.

Hi, my name is Alex and I have been a student at Mira Costa College for 3 semesters.
My major is engineering mostly due to being better at doing math than other subjects.
My current goal is to finish all of my general classes required to earn an Associates
Art degree before transferring. My hobbies include biking, cooking, and video games.
Since coming to Mira Costa I’ve managed to join a club and make more friends than
I thought I would.
Nhi from Vietnam
My name is Nhi Tran, people call me "Nee". I am from Hue, Vietnam where originally
delicious spicy beef noodle comes from. I have been in California since December 2014,
and started school at MiraCosta College in the beginning of 2015. Besides school,
I love playing basketball, listening to music, and singing. I enjoy living in California
because I am in love with the weather and the diversity here. People come from a lot
of countries all over the world bringing their own cultures and languages to make
California diverse. Living in a new country teaches me how to live well independently,
how to take care of myself, how to be organized on things and how to make friends.
I hope I will have a wonderful time and be successful in the United States!

I am 26 years old as of this posting, but will turn 27 this November. I am originally
from the state of Florida, but moved to the state of California in February 2012.
I started attending MiraCosta College in August of 2015. I am double majoring in both
Dance and Sociology. My goal is to graduate in Spring of 2019 with an Associate's
degree in Dance and in Sociology, and then transfer to either University of California
Los Angeles, or University of California, Irvine for a concentration in both Latin
Ballroom, and Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies. I am also very active on campus! I am part of my school's student governing body,
the Associated Student Government of MiraCosta, as well as President and Co-Founder
of the K-Pop Club. I also am president of a group that represents a specific group
of students at the California state level of legislation
Delia from Cameroon
Hi! I from the beautiful continent of Africa specifically from Cameroon. A lot of
tourist who travel around the world will describe Cameroon as "Africa miniature" because
it exhibit all the major climates and vegetation of the Africa continent. I am an
accounting student, I am also part of the MiraCosta Honor Scholar program. I love
playing volleyball especially on a sandy beach. I go to the beach and relax almost
every weekend that really helps. After-all, it is always summer time in California!!!
so why not enjoy the beautiful beaches. I sometimes go hiking and camping with my
friends that is fun. The US is amazingly beautiful I get to meet people from different
cultures and backgrounds every day that is really cool. I love the diversity of the
Californian people.

Hi! I'm Miku, Mira Costa international student from Japan. My major is liberal arts
with an area of emphasis in business and technology. I've been here for one year.
My hobbies are rock climbing and playing the piano. I love to hang out with my friends
from a lot of countries!

My name is Duyen Nguyen, and I am from Vietnam, which is a beautiful and peaceful
country. I am very proud of being an international student blogger who can help another
international students especially Vietnamese students to have ideas about how you

the 3rd grade. I am originally from Xi'an, China, which in my mind is a very historical
city with modern inventions. I have been in America for three years. I started as
