MiraCosta College offers a wide variety of tuition-free noncredit courses including Noncredit English as a Second Language (ESL), Adult High school and a wide variety of other tuition-free Noncredit Courses. Students who wish to take MiraCosta College Noncredit classes must complete the steps below. NOTE: If you are an ESL student (English as a Second Language) and would like assistance with this process, please reach out to Admissions and Records at 760-795-8710)
Apply Step 1 – Submit a Free Application
Submit a free online application through CCCApply (view instructions in English / vea las instrucciones en Español). Once your application has been processed we will send you an email with your next steps within 24 – 48 hours. The fastest and easy way for students to submit the application is online, however, if this is not possible you may also submit one of the e-signature forms below, however, processing time may be substantially longer:
Apply Step 2 – Concurrent/Dual Enrollment Permits
Note: Noncredit ESL and other Noncredit courses not related to high school do not need to complete this step.
If you want to register in any of the following options you need to submit a Concurrent/Dual Enrollment form each semester. (view instructions in English / vea las instrucciones en Español) :
- From High School to MiraCosta Adult High School (e-sign)
- From MiraCosta Adult High School to MiraCosta Credit (e-sign)
- From High School to MiraCosta Noncredit (e-sign)

To request the form you will need the following information:
- Your SURF ID#
Once your application from STEP 1 is processed you need to retrieve your student ID (SURF ID).
- 3 email addresses:

- Your email address. This address MUST match the one we have on file for you.
(To check or change your email address follow this tutorial) - Parent/Guardian email address (If you are 18 or older and still in high school you will not need your Parent/Guardian to sign)
- High School Counselor or Noncredit Counselor (for Adult High School to MiraCosta Credit only) email address
- Your email address. This address MUST match the one we have on file for you.
- Your Date of Birth
- The name of your High School
Once you request the form you will need to wait approximately 24 hours. We will send you a customized e-signature form that you can fill out and sign using a smart phone or a computer. The form will automatically be forwarded from you (the student) to the 2nd and 3rd signer and then will be forwarded to Admissions.
Apply Step 3 – Complete Your Pre-registration Survey
Each semester you need to complete a preregistration survey before being allowed to register.
Here's how:
- Log into SURF > Tasks > To Do List > Pre-Registration Survey
- The survey has 10 pages and should only take a few minutes to complete.
- Once you have completed the survey the hold on your account for the survey will be removed automatically.
