Drops will begin at 11:00p.m. on the payment deadline date which is August 4th, 2026 for the fall term and will continue daily until term starts or until one of the following is completed:
- The balance is paid in full or reduced below $1000.00.
- The student enrolls in a payment plan for the relevant term.
- For Veteran Services - Submit a current term Letter of Intent (LOI).
- A FAFSA or CADAA application for the current aid year and it has been received by MiraCosta. Please note this can take 5-7 days for MiraCosta to receive.
You can make a payment online through your SURF account by clicking on the ‘Financial Account Tile, Make a Payment and click on Make a Payment’ again at the bottom screen.
Yes. As a courtesy, reminder emails are sent to the email address on file. Be sure to keep your email up to date and check it regularly. You are responsible for paying any outstanding fees on time, even if you did not receive a notification.
Yes. If your balance is $1,000 or more and you have not completed one of the options below by the payment deadline, you will be dropped from all classes and will need to re-enroll.
If you re-enroll and the requirements are still not met, you will be dropped again until one of the following completed:
- The balance is paid in full or reduced below $1000.00.
- The student enrolls in a current payment plan.
- For Veteran Services - Submit a current term Letter of Intent (LOI).
- A FAFSA or CADAA application for the current aid year and it has been received by MiraCosta. (Please note this can take 5-7 days for MiraCosta to receive.)
Students who apply for FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the CADAA (California Dream Act Application) by the payment deadline, and whose application has been received by MiraCosta, will not be dropped or have a debt hold placed on their account.
If you apply after the payment deadline, please allow 5–7 days for MiraCosta to receive and process your application. Please note the Financial Aid Office may request additional documents to establish federal aid eligibility, please contact the Financial Aid Office for the status of your FAFSA or CADAA application.
During this time, your account may be at risk of being dropped, and a hold may be placed until your information is updated. Please plan ahead to avoid delays to your enrollment.
Debt holds will be applied on the payment deadline date.
Summer Payment Deadline Date: May 26, 2026
Fall Payment Deadline Date: August 4, 2026
To have the hold removed to enroll in more classes one of the following needs to be completed:
- The balance is paid in full or reduced below $170.00.
- The student enrolls in a payment plan.
- Veteran Services - Submit a current term Letter of Intent (LOI).
- A FAFSA or CADAA application for the current aid year and it has been received by MiraCosta. (Please note this can take 5-7 days for MiraCosta to receive.)
If you were classified as a nonresident and are awaiting reclassification, the hold cannot be removed until your request is approved. If approved, the Welcome Center will update your status to California resident, and the nonresident fees will be automatically removed from your account.
If you would like to move forward with enrollment while your reclassification is pending, you may do so by completing one of the following:
- Pay your balance in full or reduce it to below $170
- Enroll in a current payment plan
- Submit a FAFSA or CADAA application for the current aid year that has been received by MiraCosta (please allow 5–7 days for processing)
