There are two types of student employee positions on campus: district-paid positions and work-study positions. District-paid positions: The hiring department covers the student’s wages through MiraCosta’s district budget. Work-study positions: The student’s wages are funded through Financial Aid (Federal Work Study) or CalWORKs via EOPS. Eligibility Requirements: If your position is funded through Work Study, you must be enrolled in at least 6 units at MiraCosta College. If you are applying for a district-paid position, you must be enrolled in 12 units or at least 1 unit in an Occupational Work Experience or Internship Studies course. Refer to the Enrollment Eligibility Table For a detailed breakdown of unit requirements by program and funding type, please refer to the Enrollment Eligibility Table.
Follow these Step-by-Step Procedures to apply for Federal Work Study. For additional information on qualifying for Federal Work Study or CalWORKs work study, please visit the Financial Aid website or the CalWORKs website.
All MiraCosta College student workers should become familiar with the Student Worker Manual. This manual was developed to aid you, the student, in understanding the policies and procedures associated with working at MiraCosta College.
